Apple is a very big tech brand that has been launching many of its gadgets in the market. Apple has always been ahead in terms of technology and uses the latest technology. Recently, Apple has also given AI  features in many of its smartphones and Apple Watch.

You always get the best features and latest performance in Apple gadgets because they make their devices using the latest technology. Now Apple is going to use the latest silicon  in its Macs  so that their performance can be boosted further.

Today in this article, we will talk about the Baltra chip, its development, features, and how it will help Apple’s AI servers.

Apple’s Future Silicon Roadmap: M5 to M7 Chips and AI Server Innovations Revealed

Apple stopped using Intel’s processors in its Mac computers a few years ago and started using its own designed “Apple Silicon” chips. It was a strategic decision that gave the company more control over the integration of its hardware and software and resulted in better performance, energy efficiency and optimized user experience.

The M1, M2 and their various Pro and Max variants have already proven how powerful and efficient Apple’s in-house chip design can be. Now, the company plans to take this success further with the next generation of chips.

The report mentions another chip, which is currently in development and is codenamed ‘Sotra’. It is being described as an “advanced Mac chip”, but no additional information is currently available about how this chip will differ from other Apple Silicon processors or when it will be launched.

In addition, according to the report, Apple is also developing in-house chips for its AI servers. While many Apple Intelligence features are designed to work on the user’s device itself, the company is also planning to process some AI requests on its servers in the cloud. These servers will now use specially designed dedicated chips instead of Apple’s Mac chips.

Development of the Baltra Chip

The chip Baltra – client to Apple’s AI servers – is being developed within the company at the present time. This chip is engineered in a way that it makes it easy to carry out AI functions in cloud computing atmospheres.

Apple and Broadcom are teaming up to create such a chip. It is expected that the Baltra chip could have as much as 8 times the number of CPU and GPU cores than the M3 Ultra chip has.

The work this chip is about to do for Apple’s future AI infrastructure, cak not be only that of a prototype. After a few years of completion, the Baltra chip will partner with Apple’s other custom chips to enhance and secure AI processing.
