We have gained a peek at what to expect with the somewhat altered design of the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 Pro and Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max models. A significant redesign suggests dummy units and expands to the rear panel, now appearing combined with glass and aluminum materials.

This is a sign of Apple’s continuous search for fitting and copying its premium devices. Today in this article we will discuss the Apple iPhone 17 pro leak of its design.

Glass and Aluminum Integration on Redesigned Rear Panel

It’s distinctly partitioned into two sections on the rear panel that appear to be leaked dummy units. The glass is in the lower half, perhaps to carry wireless charging functionalities, while the top part is made of aluminum and contains the camera module.

By itself, this bifurcated design brings a new aesthetic and functions to serve, by providing additional signal reception and structural integrity.

A New Philosophy Behind the Enlarged Camera Module

One of the biggest changes to the Note’s design is the widened camera module that extends from the top to the bottom of the rear panel. It is a departure from Apple’s usual camera layouts where the camera sits flush with the body of the phone and does not stick out, rather making its small cutout on the top edge.

It is expected to accommodate advanced imaging components such as a periscope telephoto lens to increase optical zoom capabilities.

Material Transition: From Titanium to Aluminum

In recent versions, such as the iPhone 16 Pro series, Apple used a titanium frame to give the feeling of high-end and higher toughness. However, according to rumors, the iPhone 17 Pro models will change frame shells from stainless steel to aluminum. There could be several reasons for this change, and the reasons could include cost consideration, weight reduction, and manufacturing economics.

One can argue that with lower weight, aluminum would be more convenient, but at the same time without a huge drop in durability.

Introduction of the iPhone 17 Air: A New Addition to the Lineup

Along with the Pro models, Apple is said to be also releasing a new version dubbed the iPhone 17 Air. I also expect this model to replace the iPhone 16 Plus whose thickness is as little as 5.5 mm. It is also likely that the iPhone 17 Air will have a single rear camera within a narrow edge-to-edge camera bar distinguishable from others in the series.

According to reports, the high refresh rate OLED display with 120Hz on all the models of the iPhone 17 series will be quite different from the Pro series, which previously had displays with resolutions and refresh rates as high as this.

Smoother scrolling and more responsive touch interactions would be a natural result of this transition to 120Hz ProMotion technology and an enhancement of the overall user experience.

This feature is now available in every single Apple smartphone, demonstrating that Apple is now determined to offer premium display technology in any and every Apple smartphone it releases.

Performance Upgrades: The A19 Pro Chip and Increased RAM

Behind all those nice features, the iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to be running with Apple’s brand new A19 Pro chip on TSMC’s 3nm process. Such an improvement in performance and energy efficiency is expected to result from this advancement.

Furthermore, Pro variants could be provided with 12GB of RAM to support multitasking and provide seamless performance in resource-intensive applications.

Front-Facing Camera Enhancement: Doubling the Megapixels

The front-facing camera is also expected to have significant improvements. According to numerous rumors, the iPhone 17 Pro models will have a 24-megapixel front camera, twice of what they have had before. In a call, it is expected to improve video call quality and sharpen selfies.

Contrary to earlier guesses, it seems the iPhone 17 series will keep a ‘largely unchanged’ Dynamic Island design. This feature has been introduced with previous models, which integrate notifications and multitasking to the display cutout area.
