A new rumor suggests that Huawei is planning something big with the camera setup of its next Pura series. According to a tipster on Weibo, the upcoming Huawei Pura 100 series could feature two 200-megapixel cameras.
If this turns out to be true, it would be the first smartphone lineup to carry dual 200MP cameras. One camera is expected to handle the main camera duties, while the other would work as a telephoto lens.
What the Rumor Says About Huawei Pura 100 Series
The information comes from a Weibo user known as SmartPikachu. The tipster claims Huawei already has two 200MP sensors in development and could be ready to use them by the end of this year. The actual dual 200MP setup is expected to arrive with the Pura 100 series in 2027.
Huawei has been steadily pushing camera technology in its Pura series. The current Pura 90 Pro Max already uses a 200MP telephoto sensor, which was a first for the company. Moving to two such sensors would be a clear step forward, at least on paper.
Huawei’s Camera Strategy Is Getting More Ambitious
High-resolution sensors give more flexibility. A 200MP main camera can capture a lot of detail and allow heavy cropping without losing too much quality. Pairing it with another 200MP telephoto sensor could improve zoom performance significantly, especially in good lighting.
Of course, resolution alone does not decide camera quality. Sensor size, lens quality, image processing, and software all play a big role. Huawei has a strong track record in computational photography, so the combination could be interesting if executed well.
