Hey friends, are you as excited as I am? In just two months, Apple is going to unveil its iPhone 17 lineup, and according to the leaks and rumors, it is going to be a game-changer! iPhone 17 Lineup:
iPhone 17: Base Model, But a Big Upgrade
First of all, let’s talk about the base iPhone 17. This phone will be similar to the iPhone 16 in terms of design, but will get something new in the display and colors. The screen size will increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, and this will be done by making the device 2mm taller and the borders 45% smaller (from 2.2mm to 1.2mm). It will come with a new LTPO panel, which was previously only in the Pro models.
What does this mean? ProMotion is now in the base model as well, meaning buttery-smooth scrolling and animations with a 120Hz refresh rate. Plus, there will also be an always-on display, so that the lock screen content will be visible without waking the phone.
The Dynamic Island will also be smaller, by about 25% smaller, thanks to a new metal lens system that merges the Face ID components into a single aperture. Talking about the chip, there was a chance of an A19, but it will most likely use the A18 chip that’s in the iPhone 16. A new Apple-designed Wi-Fi chip can also be expected, which will boost power efficiency and connectivity, and there will also be the C1 modem, which offers 17-24% better power efficiency.
The front-facing lens in the camera will be upgraded from 12MP to 24MP, which is perfect for high-resolution selfies. The rear camera system will remain the same, and the RAM will also remain at 8GB. Colors? Black, white, light blue, light green, and light purple. And the price? $799, just like the iPhone 16.
iPhone 17 Air: Ultra-Thin, Ultra-Cool
Now let’s talk about the replacement for the iPhone 17 Plus – the iPhone 17 Air. This phone will be very thin, just 5.5mm, which is 20% thinner than the iPhone 6 (6.9mm) and 5% thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge. It is also a lightweight champion in weight – 145g, which is 25% lighter than the 16 Plus and 36% lighter than the 16 Pro Max.
But there are some compromises to be so thin. There will be no bottom speaker, meaning the audio will come only from the earpiece, which will not give stereo sound and the volume will also be low. The ultrawide camera has also been removed, and there will be only a 48MP rear camera that delivers 12MP 2x optical zoom. A large horizontal camera bump has also been designed for this, probably for internal space.
Good news? The front camera will be 24MP, and RAM will increase up to 12GB. The battery will also use a new high-density technology, which offers 15-20% more capacity, but still will be 30% smaller than the 16 Plus. Video playback can be expected up to 19 hours, while the 16 Plus delivers 27 hours. Apple will probably launch a battery case for this as well.
The display will be 6.6 inches, slightly smaller than the 16 Plus’ 6.7 inches, but with ultra-thin borders and a smaller Dynamic Island. There will also be an A19 chip, MagSafe, and a camera control button. Colors include black, white, light gold, and a shade of sky blue like the MacBook Air. Price? $899.
iPhone 17 Pro: New Design, Aluminum Body
The iPhone 17 Pro has a big design change – an aluminum body instead of titanium, which is returning to the flagship for the first time since the iPhone 7. This is probably to reduce weight and save cost.
There will also be a large horizontal camera bump, which will be made of aluminum and will give an iPad Pro-like feel. There will be a glass cutout for wireless charging, and the Apple logo will be shifted slightly down so that the MagSafe is visible in the clear case. Reverse wireless charging is also expected, with 7.5W power to charge AirPods or Apple Watch.
The display will be 6.3 inches, with a smaller Dynamic Island and a 24MP front camera. RAM will be upgraded to 12GB, and the A19 Pro chip with TSMC’s N3P process will deliver 5% faster performance and 5-10% better efficiency. A new vapor chamber cooling system will also improve heat dissipation. Colors include white, black, gold, and blue. Price will remain the same, $999.
iPhone 17 Pro Max: The Biggest Upgrade
Last but not least, iPhone 17 Pro Max. It will come with all the features of the 17 Pro, plus a few extras. The display will be 6.9 inches, with ultra-thin borders. Big upgrade in camera system – 48MP telephoto lens, which will be the first iPhone to have three 48MP rear lenses.
There could also be a mechanical aperture, which will adjust the light to give better depth of field and low-light photos. Battery will also be bigger, probably 5000mAh, which can give 40 hours of video playback – iPhone’s best battery life ever! Colors and price same as 17 Pro, i.e. $1199.
