Moto Edge 70 5G Review- Slim Design, Premium Feel at ₹30,000?

These days everyone is talking about slim phones. Apple’s Air, Samsung’s slim phone, all are expensive and leave out something or the other. But Motorola has launched the Moto Edge 70 for around ₹30,000 and claims that this is India’s first real slim phone which has no major compromises.

The team also tested it, and it has been my primary phone for the last 50 days. Tested it completely in real life from design to battery, camera to performance. Spoiler there are some compromises, but Motorola has cleverly hidden them. Let’s take a look at the details, simply put, to see what this phone is like and whether you should buy it.

Design: Extremely Thin and Robust Feel

This phone is 5.99mm thin and weighs just 159g. It feels like nothing in the hand. Slip it into a pocket and it disappears completely. The back features a textured fabric type material, a cross between vegan leather and fabric, that doesn’t slip and feels premium. The frame is metal, with curved edges that offer excellent grip. The camera module is in signature Motorola style, the slanted island look looks cool.

I bought it in Pantone Bronze Green color. It looks absolutely premium. I have been using it for 50 days without a cover. It fell off a table once onto the tiles, there was just a slight dent, but the phone worked perfectly. Gorilla Glass 7i on the front, IP68/IP69 water dust resistance, and MIL-STD-810H durability. If you fall into water or get dropped, it will survive. The in hand feel is extremely comfortable. It does not hurt if you hold it for a long time, and there is no weight felt in the pocket either.

Display: Bright and Smooth, but a little issue

6.7 inch flat P-OLED display, Full HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate. Colors are vibrant in Vivid mode and realistic in Natural. Brightness is sufficient outdoors, clear even in direct sunlight. HDR content looks great. Indoors, the eyes are comfortable at both bright and low brightness levels.

But the auto brightness sensor is a bit naughty. Sometimes it increases or decreases brightness even at night. A little calibration is needed. Other content is enjoyable. Movies and reels all play smoothly.

Speakers and Haptics: Loud Sound Even on a Slim Phone

Despite being a slim phone, the speakers are loud. Clarity is good and there is decent bass. There is Dolby Atmos support, and the sound is great even with a neckband or earphones. Haptics are also decent. Vibrations in typing or the UI feel consistent and comfortable. No major complaints here.

Performance: Smooth in daily use, decent in gaming

Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip 4nm with UFS 3.1 storage. 13,500 plus score in AnTuTu, solid numbers in Geekbench and 3DMark. No thermal throttling, green graph full time. Daily apps, multitasking, and scrolling are all buttery smooth.

Gaming BGMI and COD runs comfortably at 90fps average 87fps, with a slight drop at 120fps. No heating, max 41 degree Celsius and around 38 degree Celsius at 90fps for 1 hour of gaming. But it is not the best for heavy gaming. Perfect for casual players.

The software is clean Android 16, but there are some minor jitters and occasional refresh rate drops. Optimization could be improved. Aggressive RAM management kills background apps quickly. 3 years of major OS updates and 5 years of security updates are good for the price.

Camera: 4K 60fps

50MP main plus 50MP ultra wide plus 50MP selfie. Daylight photos are sharp, dynamic range is excellent, colors are natural, and details are retained. Portrait mode has perfect edge detection and skin tones. Ultra wide also matches the main camera. Macro shots are also good.

There is some detail loss in low light, but overall one of the top cameras in this price range. 4K 60fps video from all cameras is excellent in daylight, slightly weaker in low light due to EIS. No telephoto lens, but getting such a solid camera setup for ₹30,000 is a big deal.

Battery: Long life even in a thin phone

5000mAh battery despite being slim. Lasts comfortably for 1.5 days with moderate use. Screen on time averages 5 to 6 hours with YouTube, social media, and calls. Even with heavy use, you get 7 plus hours. 68W fast charging gives a full charge quickly and does not get hot. 15W wireless charging is also available, rare at this price.

Connectivity and Security: No worries

Network is strong with 5G and Wi Fi. Calls are clear. The in display fingerprint is fast, face unlock is also reliable. NFC is available, tap and pay is easy.
