Motolora EDGE 50 Ultra Launched in India
Motorola launched a new flagship smartphone on June 18, 2024, the Edge 50 Ultra! This phone is a little different, it will also please your sense of smell! Yes, you read it right. This phone comes in a box that smells like an airport perfume shop.
The Edge 50 Ultra has a wood-like, textured back panel at the back. However, on closer inspection, it is revealed that it is not real wood but made of PVC. It looks perfect, especially in the light-colored wood finish.

Design
This phone will attract you at first glance. Its special feature is its back. Yes, you will not get a glass or plastic back panel like other phones available in the market, but you will get a back panel with a wood-like texture. It is not real wood, but made of PVC, but it looks and feels exactly like real wood. This phone comes in three colors – Wood, Black, and Bronze.
However, some people may not like this wood finish, but the good thing is that the company has given two more options. This phone is very light in terms of weight, only 197 grams. The curved screen and thin bezels add to its beauty. Overall, this phone looks quite premium and unique in terms of design.
Display
In Motorola Edge 50 Ultra you get a 6.7-inch OLED display. This display supports a 144Hz refresh rate, meaning you will get very smooth and fluid scrolling. This display is great for watching content and playing games. The brightness level is also excellent, so you will not have any problem even in sunlight.
However, one thing that is a bit bothersome is the absence of LTPO technology. Nowadays most flagship phones have an LTPO display, which helps in saving battery by reducing the refresh rate. This deficiency hurts, especially considering the price of this phone.
Performance
On paper, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra seems to be a very powerful smartphone. In this, you get a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor (it is slightly less powerful than the regular 8 Gen 3), as well as up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
Now talking about performance, this phone performs very well in everyday use. Apps open quickly and multitasking is also very smooth. But, where it falls short is gaming. While phones like the Galaxy S24 can run high-end games with ease, the Edge 50 Ultra may face some difficulty in some games on high settings.
Camera
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra comes with a triple camera system. The main camera is 50MP, along with a 12MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera performance is good, especially in daylight. Photos come out quite sharp and detailed. Portrait mode is also quite good, the background blur effect is good and edge detection is also accurate.
However, the camera performance becomes a bit weak in low light. Some noise and grain can be seen in the pictures. Night mode helps a bit, but is not as good as what is found in other flagship phones.
Video recording is also fine. You can record videos in 4K up to 60fps. The videos are of good quality but are slightly less stabilized than some of the best flagship phones.
For selfies, you get a 50MP front camera. Selfies come out well, detail is also good. Portrait mode also works well with the front camera.
Battery
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra has a big 5000mAh battery. This battery lasts comfortably for the whole day. If you use a little less, it can also last up to two days.
The phone supports 120W fast charging, so you can charge it up to 50% in just 15 minutes. Wireless charging is also supported, but it is a bit slow.
Software
The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra comes with Android 13. It also has some of Motorola’s own customization, but it is quite light and you will rarely see bloatware.
Motorola has promised that this phone will get Android updates for 3 years and security updates for 4 years.
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Price & Availability

The starting price of Motorola Edge 50 Ultra in India is ₹ 54,999. That means you will get this phone for at least ₹ 54,999. And this information was seen on Flipkart on 26 June 2024.
Should you buy the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra?
It depends on your budget and needs. If you want a premium smartphone experience and have a good budget, you can also consider better options, such as the Samsung Galaxy S24 or Google Pixel 8 Pro.
But, if you want a good flagship experience for a little less money, then the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra could be a good option for you.
Conclusion
Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Specifications make it a good smartphone, but it is not a flagship killer. Given its price, there are some shortcomings in it, such as the absence of an LTPO display and mediocre video recording.
But, if you want a phone with a good design, great display, powerful processor, good camera performance, and long-lasting battery, then Motorola Edge 50 Ultra can be a good option for you.
