A Bigger Sensor for Better Photos
It is equipped with a 1-inch sensor size, which is way bigger than what most smartphones have in their sensors. The more light a sensor can capture, the larger it is. Such stimulates the creation of brighter and clearer images, whether taking pictures in low light or between night and morning.

Advanced HDR with TheiaCel Technology
A standout feature about the support for TheiaCel™ technology is one of the technologies that the OV50X offers. This multi-pixel line HDR codec is the special system developed by OmniVision that outperforms other high dynamic range (HDR) systems. In HDR, the bright and the dark parts of a photo balance out, which makes the highlights and shadows look good.
TheiaCel technology is combined with LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) in the use of the OV50X. The two in combination are designed to work with very bright and very dark areas in the same frame without sacrificing detail. In the single exposure HDR category, the sensor approaches near 100dB, or a big range of brightness, without needing multiple photos or combining them.
It will be especially useful for scenes with a lot of contrast, such as taking a shot of someone in front of a bright window or under very bright light. The camera can capture the face and not make it too dark while the background is not too dark or light.
8K Video Recording and Other Video Features
Video recording is also the biggest jump since the last OV50X. It supports ultra-clear videos with lots of detail, thanks to the 8K resolution video it supports. Also, inside the sensor, they include in-sensor crop zoom and dual analog gain (DAG) HDR for better video clarity and sharpness. Super Fast Image Capture
The OV50X is also a very fast model for excellent image quality. That also supports four-cell pixel binning to allow 12.5 megapixel shooting at a mind-blowing up to 180 frames per second (fps). It’s quicker than this and can be used for slow motion and fast action footage.
