The Powerbeats Pro 2 are the new true wireless earbuds (TWS) from Beats, a brand that has launched some great products in the past. The original Powerbeats Pro were launched in 2019, and now six years later we get its successor. But do these earbuds really deliver? In almost every aspect, they perform better than the OG model.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 is a latest generation product and feels professional right from the start. It has a long list of features, the most notable of which is a heart rate monitoring sensor, as well as ANC (active noise cancellation), adaptive EQ, and a claimed battery life of up to 45 hours. Apart from that, Beats has claimed a number of upgrades over the older model.

In today’s article, we will discuss what features you will get in Powerbeats Pro 2 and what will be its price, a complete review about it.

Powerbeats Pro 2 Design

Fit issues are a common problem with TWS earbuds, and this problem gets worse during workouts. The Powerbeats Pro 2 stand out in the crowd thanks to its unique ear hook design. The moment you take them out, you know that this is no ordinary product. Despite the bulky look, they feel light and offer good in-ear stability.

Very few companies pay attention to the basics, but Beats (or now Apple) has it right. The company claims that the Powerbeats Pro 2 has been tested with close to 1,000 athletes, and its improved ergonomics is proof of that.

The ear hook used in the TWS is now made of nickel-titanium alloy, which makes it lighter than its previous model and also offers flexibility, grip, and comfort. I also really liked the quality of the seal of the Powerbeats Pro 2, and it impressed me a lot.

Powerbeats Pro 2: Aditional Features

The Powerbeats Pro 2 feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which adjusts itself not only based on the surrounding noise but also based on your personal fit. The Pro 2 features a hybrid ANC setup that combines outward-facing feed-forward microphones with inward-facing feedback mics, according to the company.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 constantly monitors the surrounding environment and adjusts the noise cancellation accordingly. It also has a Transparency mode, which lets the surrounding sounds in so that you get a natural listening experience.

Interestingly, when ANC and Transparency mode are turned off, Adaptive EQ gets activated, which according to Beats gives personalized audio tuning based on the user’s fit. ANC works well, but I still think the AirPods Pro 2 cancels out noise better.

The Pro 2 only supports the SBC and AAC codecs, which is a bit disappointing as there is no support for high-res audio. However, there is one exception to this – if you are using the Apple Vision Pro. This is where Apple’s H2 chip gives the Powerbeats Pro 2 an advantage.

Powerbeats Pro 2 Battery Life

Battery life is also a big feature of the Powerbeats Pro 2 and it sets a new benchmark for other sports-focussed earbuds. The company claims that the Pro 2 can deliver up to 10 hours of continuous playback without the case, while with the charging case, this figure can reach up to 45 hours.

A bonus is that the Pro 2 supports fast charging – meaning you can get over 90 minutes of music playback in just 5 minutes of charging. The earbuds can deliver up to 8 hours of playback with ANC on and with the case, it can go up to 36 hours – so says the company.

During my detailed review, I found its battery life to be extremely satisfactory. The Pro 2 worked for three days of continuous on-and-off use without any additional charging. This is a figure I haven’t seen in any other rival match yet.

The TWS takes about two hours to fully charge from 0 to 100 percent.

Powerbeats Pro 2 Colour Option

The Powerbeats Pro 2 is available in four colours – Jet Black, Quick Sand, Hyper Purple, and Electric Orange. I got the Electric Orange variant for review, and after a few weeks of usage I can confidently say that this colour really turns heads.

If you want to use it for daily gym wear and don’t like too bright colours like me, then lighter and subtle colours like Jet Black and Quick Sand might be a better choice.
