Samsung has launched another budget phone – the Samsung Galaxy A07 5G! I just tested it, and many peoples are calling it the best budget phone, but what’s the real deal? Let’s take a simple look at how this phone looks like and performs like, what’s good, and what’s not.

Unboxing: Just the Basics in the Box

Open the box and find the phone, a Type-C cable, a SIM pin, and some paperwork. Charger? No! Samsung doesn’t include a charger in its budget phones anymore, but you wouldn’t expect one at such a low price. Simple unboxing, no extras.

Design: Simple and Comfortable

The back is plastic, but the finish is good – there’s no cheap feel. The camera module is minimal and clean. The sides have a modern look with flat edges. The phone is slim and fits comfortably in the hand. The fingerprint scanner is on the side and works, but it’s a bit slow. The front has a waterdrop notch and a large chin – it feels a bit dated. Colors available are Black, Light Green, and Light Violet – all simple and decent.

Display: HD+

The 6.7-inch PLS LCD display has an HD+ resolution (720p). There’s a 120Hz refresh rate, so scrolling feels smooth. Brightness goes up to 800 nits, so it looks decent even in sunlight. However, due to the 720p resolution, details are lacking – videos and photos lack sharpness. Gorilla Glass 5 protection is a bit scratch-resistant. However, there’s no punch-hole or bezel-less look; the notch and chin are large.

Sound: Only one speaker

There’s a single speaker at the bottom – the sound is decent, but not loud. Dual speakers are available in other phones at this price. There’s a headphone jack, so you can use wired earphones.

Performance: Good for daily use

MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor (with 5G support). 4GB/6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage are available. Daily apps like WhatsApp, YouTube, and Instagram run smoothly, but opening apps back-to-back can be a bit laggy. Gaming is smooth with BGMI at 60fps, but frame drops occur in heavy games, and there’s no gyro sensor. The AnTuTu score is around 5-6 lakh rupees – good for the budget, but it struggles with multitasking.

Software: The Benefit of Long Updates

One UI 8 is on Android 16 – clean and smooth. You’ll get 6 major OS updates and 6 security updates annually, which is a significant advantage at this price. There’s some bloatware, but you can delete it. AI features include Circle Search, but there’s no additional AI in the gallery.

Camera: Basic

There’s a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth sensor on the back. An 8MP selfie camera on the front. Daylight photos are decent, but details are low. Portrait mode’s edge detection is average. Low light shows a lot of noise and details are missing. Video is up to 1080p, but it’s shaky and choppy. Selfies are also basic – good during the day, but poor at night.

Battery:

The biggest plus point is the 6000mAh battery – it lasts comfortably for a day with heavy use, and 1.5-2 days with normal use. 25W fast charging is available, so it charges quickly.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • 6000mAh battery – very long lasting.
  • 6+6 years of updates – future-proof.
  • 120Hz display – smooth scrolling.
  • 5G support and expandable storage.
  • Side fingerprint scanner is fast.

Cons:

  • HD+ resolution – details are scarce.
  • Single speaker – sound average.
  • Camera is basic, poor in low light.
  • Performance suffers under heavy use.
  • Waterdrop notch and large chin – look dated.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy A07 5G is a basic budget phone – battery and long updates are its biggest plus points. However, the HD+ display makes videos unenjoyable, the camera is average, and performance is fine for daily use, but struggles with gaming or heavy apps.

For around ₹16,000, if you only want calls, WhatsApp, YouTube, and a long battery life, this is the one to get. But if you want a better camera, a full HD display, and smoother performance, consider options like the Vivo T4x, Moto G57 Power, or Realme P4x – they offer more value.
