The Vivo T4x was launched almost a year ago, and it’s still competing with phones under Rs. 15,000. Now, Vivo has finally given it the Android 16 + Origin OS 6 update. After the update, many things have changed in the phone. Some have improved significantly, while some things seem a bit lacking. I’ve used this update, so I’m explaining what’s new, what’s better, and what’s still a bit behind. Let’s get started.
Lock Screen: Now Even More Fun
Now, if you pinch on the lock screen, the edit option appears. You get three large styles and you can choose any of them. The best thing is the depth effect. In wallpapers where depth can be enabled, the clock goes behind the wallpaper, and the transition looks very smooth. You can also add widgets to the lock screen, with different types of options available. You can save different lock screens and switch between them anytime.
But one thing is missing. The wallpaper doesn’t flip when you flip the phone, like in premium phones. That feature isn’t there, maybe it will come in a future update.
Notification Panel and Control Center: A Different Feel
The notification panel now looks completely fresh. You can separate it, with notifications on one side and controls on the other. Music player controls are now available from there. Hold the Brightness toggle to open the display settings, and you can turn dark mode on or off from there too. A single tap on the Bluetooth icon turns it on or off, and holding it shows paired devices.
But transparency is missing. It’s solid on the lock screen, while premium phones have a blur effect. You can’t adjust the flashlight intensity, only turn it on or off. There are some minor cuts, but it is understandable for performance.
Animations: Became Even Smoother
App open and close animations are now more fluid than before. When you tap the music player, there’s a cool transition, and holding it down gives a great pop effect. Overall, the system animations feel smooth. Scrolling, toggles, everything has improved. Giving such good animations in a budget phone is absolutely fantastic.
Home Screen and Widgets: New Options
A dock option has appeared on the home screen. Turn it on for a great look. New types of widgets have also come, and everyone can use them. Pressing the volume button now brings up a new volume bar, making control easier.
The most surprising feature is Origin Island. Play music and swipe up, the punch-hole expands, and you get controls from there. You can also add apps like stopwatch and timer. There’s also Drag & Go, where you can hold text and drag-paste it into another app. Easy drag-paste is also available in split screen.
App Drawer and File Manager: Clean and Easy
In the app drawer, you can now pin the apps you use most frequently. You can also create folders. Vivo’s own file manager has arrived, making file management easier.
Settings and Extra Features: Premium Touch
Battery stats are now displayed in more detail, and there are new charging animations. The Motion Port accessibility feature has arrived. Turn it on if you experience motion sickness in the car. The recent menu is now stacked in iPhone style, and there’s also a hide content option, allowing you to hide any app from the recents.
There’s also Private Space. It opens with a right swipe, and you can set a separate password. Apps are downloaded separately, and you can run separate accounts. A great feature for privacy.
Performance: What Happened After the Update?
AnTuTu scores are the same as before, with no downgrade. The graph in the CPU throttling test is also almost the same. App opening is fast, and background apps remain in RAM.
In gaming, I’m getting 58–60 fps in TDM, and up to 53 fps during events. It’s running smoothly.
The camera is also the same as before. Natural colors and good details in daylight, and excellent portrait edge detection. Bright photos in low light. The selfie camera is average, just like before. There’s no major upgrade or downgrade.

Conclusion
The Origin OS 6 update has made the Vivo T4x even better. The lock screen depth effect, Origin Island, better animations, private space, and smooth performance are all great. Only transparency and some premium animations are missing, but these cuts are understandable for a budget phone. If the flip cards feature is added in a future update, it will be absolutely perfect.
