The new version of WhatsApp for Android users through Google Play Beta Program has reached 2.25.9.6. The latest beta update includes a cool new feature that lets users message contacts from status updates. This feature is currently available only to a few beta testers but will soon be offered to even more users in the coming weeks.

Today, in this article, we will discuss what features you will get in this new WhatsApp update 2.25.9.6.

New Shortcut to Message Contacts from Status Updates

Earlier, WhatsApp also added several improvements to the status feature, such as saving photos and videos on your status updates. Now, the latest beta version of WhatsApp is introducing the shortcut option, which allows users to easily begin a conversation with a person who has seen your status update.

Users can see a new shortcut on the viewer’s list of a status, tap this shortcut to instantly open a chat with the person who has seen a status. It gets rid of the need to look up the contact in the chat list manually to begin a conversation, thus making it faster and more convenient.

Why is This Feature Useful?

With this update, if users want to message someone who viewed their status, they have to exit out of the status update section, look for that person’s name in the chat list, and open chat manually. Depending on how many active conversation users have, this process could take some time. This new shortcut saves their time and facilitates interactions as the user can message directly from the status viewer’s list without having to navigate to it separately.

Who Can Access This Feature?

The feature is being rolled out and is available only to some of the beta testers. However, users of WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.9.6 will have the best chance to access it first. The feature might be spotted in slightly earlier versions by some users. You will most likely be able to access the feature to more people in the coming weeks if the feature is not available yet.

To enable the encrypted pin functionality, you’ll need to join the WhatsApp Beta Program in order to receive beta updates first. After you have joined, update WhatsApp to the latest public beta version (2.25.9.6) from the Google Play Store. You then check the list in the status viewer to see if such a shortcut is available. Be patient, and WhatsApp will enable it for more users soon if it is not visible.

WhatsApp’s Recent Updates

Ever since its presence in the world of social media applications, WhatsApp has been working towards making the delivery of the user experience as perfect as possible by adding new features and updates. Now, in the previous beta version (2.25.9.4), WhatsApp has announced the animated tabs in the bottom navigation bar to make it look better and bring more usability.

The latest WhatsApp beta for Android (2.25.9.6) offers a much-needed functionality much needed, through which you can message contacts straight from messages statuses.

It’s a small and handy enhancement for conversations, saving users’ time and effort. Though the feature is still available to a small subset of beta testers, it is expected to expand to other users shortly.

If you want to give it a try, be sure your computer has the latest beta update installed. We will be updating this story and keeping you up to speed on what WhatsApp has in store for the app as it continues to make iterative improvements for its users.
