Also, we’ll share with you our initial thoughts on the new HyperOS operating system and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro Unboxing

Xiaomi has used black and white to distinguish between the Standard and Pro versions.

When we opened the Xiaomi 14 box we got the usual tiny box containing a card pin, a warranty card along with instructions, and a sturdy black silicon phone case which is similar to the Redmi Note 13 Pro phone case.

Further we get a 90W charger that still has a USB-A port located on the underside. However, the charging cable is standard USB A to C type.

When we opened the Xiaomi 14 Pro box we got almost the same accessories, but the only thing that’s different is the 120W charger.

Features of Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro

1. Design

Xiaomi 14 Design: It was assumed the Xiaomi 14 design wouldn’t look good but it wasn’t nearly as bad as anticipated, it was quite simple. We can say that the Xiaomi 14’s design is inferior to that of the Xiaomi 13.

Xiaomi has surrounded the camera with a ring of Clous de Paris texture, which makes it look out of place in addition to the fact that the camera module is larger.

Knowing that the size and weight of the camera are comparable to the previous generation, despite its larger size, is somewhat reassuring. It feels a lot like the Xiaomi 13, as long as you avoid looking at the camera module.

Another subtle improvement point is that the top frame is now very clean because all of the sensors were relocated to the camera module. The standard model is also available in an exclusive pink vegan leather version, which can make it look good but the black version with frosted glass is also really cool.

Xiaomi 14 Pro Design: There is nothing particularly unique about the Pro’s back, which is essentially the standard version on a larger scale. However what’s unique is that the display differs from the previous curved displays.

Despite being completely curved, it hardly affects the display area. Though the flat bezels give it a tougher appearance, it resembles the HUAWEI Mate 60 Pro in appearance.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro is precisely as LeiJun describes it: “it has a curved screen’s feel but a flat screen’s appearance. Seemingly insignificant to the touch, it resembles a pebble”.

2. Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro Display

There’s some changes in the display as the C8 panel from TCL is used in the place of the Samsung display panels that was found on the Pro and Standard models.

The standard version supports LTPO and full brightness DC dimming, has a slightly higher resolution, and a DPI of 460. To make up for its shortcomings, the Xiaomi 13 offers better eye protection and a sharper screen.

In comparison to its predecessor, the Pro model boasts a higher brightness and a new protective glass called Dragon Crystal Glass. In any case, there’s nothing to worry about because the screens on both phones are of the highest calibre.

3. Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro SOC

The newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which offers a 25% GPU and 30% CPU boost over its predecessor, is used by both the Pro and the standard model.

Compared to the Xiaomi 13, the Antutu bench when tested achieved a score of slightly under 2 million, indicating a 29% improvement. A number of Chinese media outlets have already tested and highly recommended 8 Gen 3.

Difference in Standard and Pro variations

After comparing the specifications on the official website we found that the Xiaomi 14 Pro and the standard version differ only in five areas:

  1. Display
  2. Camera
  3. USB-C transfer speed
  4. Battery capacity and charging speed
  5. Overall Size

It is to be expected that the standard version is not as good as the Pro version because battery life and charging speed are determined by the phone’s dimensions.

As you can see, there aren’t many differences between them, so this time you can choose your favorite model solely on the basis of size rather than the specs.

The New HyperOS

The thing that takes all the attention is the new HyperOS. The most notable improvement to HyperOS is its seamless IoT connectivity, but the phone itself hasn’t undergone much drastic changes.

HyperOS has inherited the majority of MIUI’s operating logic from its predecessors. The good news is that the Xiaomi 14 can run Google services like YouTube and Google Play because HyperOS comes with them.

In this article we discussed about Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro Unboxing. A faster charger and a more potent camera distinguish the Xiaomi 14 from the 13 series, which is a significant upgrade. Screen quality and performance are even better in the Pro edition.

The Xiaomi 14 is an excellent choice for a new flagship phone, particularly considering its initial cost. But you have to wait for our comprehensive review before making a purchase as there are many aspects that are crucial to know before making a buying decision.
